Violeta Argudo-Portal

Violeta Argudo-Portal is an anthropologist and ethnographer of science and biomedicine. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute of Public Goods and Policies (IPP), Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Her work at the IPP is linked to two projects on genetic susceptibility and the futures of genomics (PI: Mauro Turrini). Over the past few years, Violeta has been researching biomedical infrastructures and biomedicine in the making, particularly biobanks, immunotherapy, and precision medicine. Violeta earned her Ph.D. at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona with the thesis, Biomedicine in the making: a qualitative study about biobanks as infrastructures for biomedical research, a study that merges STS and social anthropology. She holds a MA in Global Thought, Columbia University in the City of New York (Fulbright scholar) and a BA in Social and Cultural Anthropology, Universitat de Barcelona.
